Serving the Community from our Hearts

Deck the Hall

The San Francisco Symphony’s annual Deck the Hall event celebrates the holiday season with a magical stage show spanning holidays around the world, designed for children ages three to ten. The post-concert party includes entertainment, arts and crafts activities, decorated trees, and refreshments.

The high school student volunteers help us with a variety of tasks, including arts and crafts, letters to Santa, face painting, food serving, distributing programs, and generally helping us make the day run more smoothly. We do not make a specific assignment until the day of Deck. When a volunteer arrives for their shift we will assign them their station. If volunteers would like to work together, they should be in line together so we can do our best to assign them at the same time to the same task (and the earlier you arrive the more choices you have). Also, if someone has a special skill, for example face painting, we will certainly try our best to assign them to that station.

As you know, this year Deck the Hall will be held on Sunday, December 2nd, from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. Students may select one of two shifts as follows (or let us know they are happy to do either and we will assign them where we need them most):

Shift 1:    7:45 am to 12:30 pm or
Shirt 2:    12:30 pm to 5:30 pm

We ask the volunteers to wear dark pants or skirts (no jeans, please), a white shirt, and comfortable dark shoes.
