Serving the Community from our Hearts

Past Events

Lafayette Fun Run & 5K

Lafayette Elementary will be hosting their 1st "Fun Run".  We have been invited to assist at the Finish Line and as course monitors. Please arrive at 7:30am.

Come join us for a fun, timed 5k Run/Walk on September 17, 2017, and support a nationally-recognized San Francisco public elementary school! Our fast, flat course runs through Golden Gate Park down John F Kennedy Dr. and all proceeds benefit Lafayette Elementary School. Cheer on our students as they participate in a pledge run/walk-a-thon. This upcoming school year, we are specifically raising money to support our school’s high caliber of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) academic excellence by paying for our technology teacher, outdoor science teacher, and online technology programs.

Lakeshore Superhero Carnival

Lakeshore Elementary will be hosting their annual "SuperheroCarnival".  We have been invited to assist with running their games booth. Please arrive on time to get instructions before the carnival starts.

Lafayette Multicultural Night

As we head into the 2nd half of the school year, we will kick off the New Year with one of our community's most beloved events - Multicultural Night. Come celebrate the diverse community that is Lafayette and enjoy an evening of student performances and international potluck.

Dinner Shift:  Duties would entail helping with some light set up and serving at the potluck in the cafeteria.  Volunteers would be standing at buffet style tables and assisting people as they came up the line to get their food.  One or two of them may help with serving snacks in the waiting line (as it gets quite long).

Meal will be provided.

Lakeshore Spring Auction

Lakeshore's biggest fundraising event. Delicious food, music, silent and live auction, wine tasting, and socializing with friends, faculty, and alumni – all for a good cause. Proceeds go directly into the school enrichment programs and consultants our children enjoy, the community events we sponsor, and supplemental classroom funds.

Setup - Before the event, help bring in food supplies, prep food, lay out linens on tables, carry in 6 bid sheet sandwich boards (7' by 2' wooden boards back-to-back that sit on top of tables), put butcher paper on the sandwich boards, carry in drinks.

Presidio School Maker Faire

Presidio Middle School and Rooftop School are hosting a School Maker Faire.  Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning. Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community.
The original Maker Faire event was held in San Mateo, CA and in 2014 celebrated its eighth annual show with some 1000+ maker exhibits and 120,000+ people in attendance. World Maker Faire New York, the other flagship event, has grown in four years to 600+ makers and 75,000 attendees. Detroit, Kansas City, Rome, Oslo, Tokyo, Newcastle (UK), and Shenzhen are the home of “featured” 2014 Maker Faires (200+ makers), and almost 100 community-driven, independently organized Mini Maker Faires are now being produced around the United States and the world.

FSK School Maker Faire

Francis Scott Key Elementary is hosting a School Maker Faire, which is a celebration of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness. It’s a place to show what we’ve made and to share what we’ve learned with others—a great match for any educational community.
